TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN: Full Day Program

Our Full Day TK program is for children turning 5 years old between September 1st and December 31st who miss the cut off to attend kindergarten in the school districts.

Our curriculum for the TK classroom is The Montessori Method combined with Balanced Literacy.  Teacher-directed literacy work includes utilization of an ABC folder, letter recognition and sounds, sight words, sentence building, shared reading, etc. We utilize Montessori’s sandpaper letters, metal insets and practical life materials to develop letter formation, pencil control and pincer grasp. Our curriculum also puts an emphasis on the math and language arts areas of the classroom, making available materials that prepare children for kindergarten and hone their numeracy and literacy skills.

All students going on to kindergarten will receive two report cards during the school year and will be offered two parent-teacher conferences. All of our TK students benefit from the instruction and collaboration of our Education Director, Literacy Specialist, and our Montessori Specialist.
