Bringing the VMPS Community Together

Throughout the school year we hold special events for the families and children enrolled at VMPS, including our Fall and Spring Book Fairs, Halloween Costume Parade, Veterans Day Celebration, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine's Day Parties, Holi Festival, and Mother's and Father's Day Events, among others.

We will communicate timing and location of these events through our classroom communication tools and our social media pages.  We invite you to return to this page to check that event schedule or visit our school calendar.

AUGUST 2023 EVENTS

TEACHER WORK DAYS - Thursday, August 17th & Friday, August 18th

• The entire school will be closed both days.

MEET THE TEACHER - Friday, August 18th from 3:00-5:00 pm

• Come meet your new teacher and view your classroom!

September 2023 Events

LABOR DAY HOLIDAY – Monday, September 4th

• The entire school will be closed.
   

INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY & DRESS AS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK CHARACTER DAY - Friday, September 8th

• We will have a "bring a book or take a book" table in front of the main office for families to enjoy. All leftover books will be donated to classrooms. 
• Teachers will plan special activities for Sept 8th with their classes to celebrate books and reading.  
• Dress as your favorite book character day!  Please label all props or items from home that go with your child's costume.  As always, please no weapons or scary masks. Thank you!

OCTOBER 2023 EVENTs

FALL SCHOOL PICTURE DAYS - Monday, October 2nd - Wednesday, October 4th (weather pending)

• All students will be photographed solo and with their classes. A link to order photos will be provided to place orders. We will send communication home to families about which classes will take pictures on which days.

VMPS & FORT MILL SCHOOL DISTRICT TEACHER WORK DAY – Monday, October 9th

• The entire school will be closed.
   

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR AT VMPS - Friday, October 6th - Friday, October 13th

• Scholastic Book Fair - The in person book fair will run at school October 6th - 13th. 
• After October 13th, books may be purchased online through our book fair website link. 
• Stay tuned for a volunteer sign up link to help with the book fair!  

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR FAMILY FUN & FOOD TRUCK NIGHT - Tuesday, October 10th 

• Join us on Tuesday, October 10th from 4:00-6:00pm for our Family Fun & Food Truck Night. Come shop the book fair and grab a wonderful dinner for your family at a TBD food truck!
   

HALLOWEEN COSTUME PARADE & CLASS PARTIES - Tuesday, October 31st

• Teachers will email information about Halloween events in your classrooms!  We will once again do our paint a pumpkin classroom activity.  Stay tuned for details!

November 2023 Events

VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION - Friday, November 10th

• Flag celebration and guest speaker.

• Teachers will email information about Thanksgiving events in your classrooms!
   

THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY – November 23th and 24th

• School will close at 3pm on Wednesday, November 22nd
• The entire school will be closed November 23-24

• Students will participate in Black History Month lessons and classroom activities.

March 2024 Events

DRESS AS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK CHARACTER - Monday, March 4th

• Dress as your favorite book character day in honor of Read Across America & Dr. Seuss' Birthday!  Please label all props or items from home that go with your child's costume.  As always, please no weapons or scary masks. Thank you.

MUFFINS WITH MOM - Friday, May 10th

• Join us for our annual Muffins with Mom event in the front of the 1525 building from 7:45 - 8:30 am with muffins, fruit and beverages.

PRESCHOOL GRADUATION CEREMONY – Tentatively Thursday, May 23rd

• Our Preschool and Kindergarten graduation will tentatively be on Thursday, May 23rd from 5:00-6:00 with a short reception to follow.  
• Details will be sent home to families of graduates in late April with further details.  

CLOSED FOR MEMORIAL DAY - Monday, May 27th 

• The entire school will be closed.

HALF DAY OF SCHOOL FOR HALF-DAY PROGRAMS AND SCHOOL DAY KINDERGARTEN - Thursday, May 30th

• Half day for Half-Day Programs and School Day Kindergarten.  There is not any After School Care this day.
